Denim around the globe

So, where do you buy your denim? All cities have multiple denim stores. But they vary a lot in quality, style and advice. Which one would you prefer? The chain store which is all about turnover but has many brands or the cool local shop with niche brands and free coffee?

I know for sure that the best denim store in Amsterdam is Tenue de Nîmes. They have excellent jeans, is all kinds, sizes, prices and they have the best advise in town, without a doubt.

Where do you live and what is your favourite denim store?

Levi’s Commuter Series S/S2012

For this season Levi’s again released the so-called Commuter Series. The Commuter Series is a denim line that is especially made for cyclists. Technical details make the Commuter series interesting, such as 100% water-repellent denim. For our readers in The Netherlands that really comes in handy.

For the collection Levi’s used existing fits like the 511, the Trucker Jacket and the Work Shirt but adjusted them to the demands of the users of bicycle clothing. The material is even equipped with 3M reflective material. Good Thinking.

3×1 Tailored Denim

A couple of days ago I read about this store located in Soho New York. Visiting this store is high on my bucket list. What’s so special about this store is that you can choose for a so called ‘bespoke denim service’. A bespoke denim service offers you to work individually with Morrison (the store owner) and his pattern-maker to create your own pair of jeans from start to finish. Imagine the jeans you always wanted with the fit and the wash you were always looking for designed by you! The price for a bespoke appointment ? They begin at $1200 USD. You can get a tailored made suit for that money, but forget that, I want a tailored jeans!

Coloured jeans

My friends at Esquire call it ‘look-at-me shades’. If you wear it, you say ‘go to hell’. They are damn right.

Wearing coloured jeans is something you can either do, or don’t. If you do it with style, it works. Otherwise it just sucks.

Here is how to wear it; coloured jeans can be combined with a blue blazer, white or light-blue shirt and brown shoes. Also, you can wear it with sneakers, but be careful, you don’t want to look like Pennywise.

I like to wear red jeans, but not too often. I don’t want to become ‘the guy with the red pants’. Maybe I’m going to try green jeans, or blue.

How do you wear your coloured jeans?
