Let’s start with plan B; you can always go to the store and get the red roses, the candy or chocolate and a nice card. But like I said, that’s plan B. It’s cheesy.
The best thing you can do is buy a nice gift that is personal and with which you can surprise your loved one. A well thought out gift, one she is already wanting for a while. And no, that’s not a vacuum cleaner, kitchen aid or new doormat. It’s also not a Playstation.
Another cool thing you can do is make her a good dinner. Yes, you are at work now and you don’t have time but you will still manage to make something after work. Think about it, this is how you can show that you are a good man! It doesn’t have to be entirely finished when she comes home, you can still work on the meal when she is around. By this you show that you really put effort in it. Also, dining a little bit later than usual makes it more mediterranean. Don’t forget the dim lighting, candles and a good bottle of wine.
But what if you don’t like cooking or you really can’t cook? Well, pick up the damn phone and get a spot at a nice restaurant! The thing is with Valentine’s Day, almost all the things you do is cliché. I’d say that you should keep it simple. It’s about the love you have for eachother. If you are fine with doing the regular stuff you do on Tuesday, that’s also fine.
Saint Valentine’s Day, often simply Valentine’s Day, is a holiday observed on February 14 honoring one or more early Christian martyrs named Valentinus. It was first established by Pope Gelasius I in 496 AD, and was later deleted from the General Roman Calendar of saints in 1969 by Pope Paul VI. It is celebrated in hundreds of countries around the world, mostly in the West, although it remains a working day in all of them.
The day first became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished. By the 15th century, it had evolved into an occasion in which lovers expressed their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards (known as “valentines”).
Modern Valentine’s Day symbols include the heart-shaped outline, doves, and the figure of the winged Cupid. Since the 19th century, handwritten valentines have given way to mass-produced greeting cards.
The Dutch website I Love Fashion News has been online for 2 years and they recently moved to a nice new building in Amsterdam. To celebrate this, they invited lots of people for drinks in their new headquarters. Next to that, Annic, the owner of ILFN presented the new ILFN-bike! The bike is very cool and specially made for ILFN by tulpfietsen.nl.
I was there only for a short period of time but had some nice conversations with Frank, the owner of tulpfietsen.nl and ofcourse many other people. Again I made pictures with my silly phone, I will put them in a gallery rather than a slideshow so mobile visitors can see the pics as well!
