New Balance sneakers are becoming more popular these days, with their striking designs and big N logo. It’s stranger with all those Nikes, Pumas and Adidas sneakers in the streetwear scene. And that is just the thing that I like about these shoes.
New Balance has been founded in 1906 as the New Balance Arch Support Company. Despite avoiding expensive advertising campaings, It has grown to be one of the largest makers of sports footwear in the world.
New Balance is know for that they never moved their production to China or Vietnam such a Nike and Adidas, and that it has continued to maintain the manufacturing in the United States and as well in the United Kingdom. Oke, the result is a more expensive shoes then their competitors but New Balance differentiates their products with technical innovations, better sizing and quality.
In fashion nowadays it’s all about heritage, fair trade and fair production. New Balance fits perfect in this trend. But it is still a brand with its own face and they don’t care what is ‘hot or not’ now. The just make great shoes. Believe me, most of the time I wear Air Jordans or Nikes but New Balance walks like your walking on clouds.
A few months ago a friend of mine bought a pair of Filling Pieces shoes at Ontfront in Amsterdam. I was familiar with these beautiful sneakers from blogs and websites but I’ve never seen them in real life. Now I’m jealous every time I walk next to my friend while he is wearing his bordeaux Filling Pieces Boat boots.
The brand has been established in 2009 in Amsterdam by owner and designer Guillaume Philibert. The concept behind the brand is that the shoes are the gap between Haute Couture and Street Couture. They are sporty but you can also wear them when you’re going for ‘smart casual’ with a chino and a blazer. Soon I’m going to add a pair of these beauties to my shoe collection. You should do the same!

I just love the vintage sneakers of Nike. They did a great job with the vintage models of the Nike Blazer (I have three pair of them in my closet).
In January 2012 Nike will release the Nike Bruin Vintage in three different colorways. The shoes are made of suede and got the old-school Nike Swoosh. The sole is treated with a vintage finish to get that worn look.
Each man should have at least two pair of sneakers in his wardrobe when he’s going casual for a day. I recommend these kicks if you like that vintage look just a much as I do! In the first month of 2012 this low top sneaker will be available in blue, green and black.
