New Balance Sneakers

New Balance sneakers are becoming more popular these days, with their striking designs and big N logo. It’s stranger with all those Nikes, Pumas and Adidas sneakers in the streetwear scene. And that is just the thing that I like about these shoes.

New Balance has been founded in 1906 as the New Balance Arch Support Company. Despite avoiding expensive advertising campaings, It has grown to be one of the  largest makers of sports footwear in the world.
New Balance is know for that they never moved their production to China or Vietnam such a Nike and Adidas, and that it has continued to maintain the manufacturing in the United States and as well in the United Kingdom. Oke, the result is a more expensive shoes then their competitors but New Balance differentiates their products with technical innovations, better sizing and quality.

In fashion nowadays it’s all about heritage, fair trade and fair production. New Balance fits perfect in this trend. But it is still a brand with its own face and they don’t care what is ‘hot or not’ now. The just make great shoes. Believe me, most of the time I wear Air Jordans or Nikes but New Balance walks like your walking on clouds.

How to buy an island?

This is the dream of many people, owning a beautiful island somewhere in a tropical part of the world. Well, there’s news for you, an island can be yours and I’m not only talking to our readers with plenty of cash left after the crisis.

What are the prices for private islands? That depends on the location. Just as in real estate, location is key. Do you prefer an island in Norway, just off the coast of Spain, the Caribbean or near Africa? The typical tropical islands (and matching location) will cost a few more than small islands near let’s say, the North American coast. Think from $ 1,000,000 and up for your tropical dream. A lot less and you can be the proud owner of a sea-surrounded gem anywhere else.

Remote islands are easier to find, but then you need to take transportation costs is consideration. A stylish gentleman like you sure knows how to ride a powerboat and maybe even fly a plane. That helps, but if you don’t you’ll need to hire people to transport you and your friends to your island.

What is on the island? If there’s nothing there (the real deal), good luck. You’ll have to build a cottage, villa or other form of living space using the remainder of your savings. Constructing a building and infrastructure on an island is 1.5 times more expensive than on the main land. Again, take transportation into consideration. You can always go for the “Survivor” option and live, cook, shit and sleep outdoors.

So, why would you want to buy an island anyway? It’s the way of spending your holidays the cool way. Further, there’s nothing like a good story on parties and events. How many people do you know that own an island? It is really exclusive.

If you are not too sure about it, try renting an island for a few weeks to become familiar with the experience. Regarding to the boat and the airplane, every stylish man knows the FFF-rule: if it flies, floats or fucks: rent it. I disagree with the last F, but there’s a truth in the other two F’s.

Good luck with your island-hunt. The best place to start is here: http://www.vladi-private-islands.com.

Grtz,

Derek

Daniel’s Top 3 Summer Jackets

I always have the same problem this time of the year. It’s too hot for my wintercoat but it’s too cold to walk around without a coat or only a sweater/pullover. The solution for that is a summer jacket. Here’s is a top 3 for some inspiration:

1- SUIT – Samson Galapagos Green
A summer parka from Danish Brand SUIT in a striking color green, hood with drawstrings, two front pockets and a small SUIT logo on the front pocket. Nice.
Found at: www.freshcotton.com

2- H&M Spring Jacket
A cheap solution if you don’t want to spend a lot of money on a spring jacket.
The jacket has a detachable hood, blind zipper, reinforcements on the elbows and ofcourse the color is really cool.
Also available in blue.
Found at: www.hm.com

3- Zara Trenchcoat
My personal favourite, and an essential thing in a men’s wardrobe. Timeless and they come in handy when it rains!
This one from Zara is cheap, stylish and has a nice short fit. Available in blue and grey.
